If you're wondering why we were in Switzerland it's because we were scheduled to catch a big boat from there to cruise down the Rhine as far as Dusseldorf (which has two funny little dots over the first u but I don't know how to type them here). Like a lot of our plans for this trip, that bit went a bit soggy . . . there had been so much rain recently that the Rhein was just too full to cruise on! So we got to the pier and waited around for a coach to drive us to somewhere where the boat could get under the bridges safely . . . I met some very elderly and often rather peculiar people on this cruise, and they started appearing here in the boat house for the local rowing club where we waited for the coach . . .
